syslog에 기록되는 PostgreSQL 메시지를 식별하는 프로그램 이름을 지정한다.

log_destination에 syslog가 포함되어 있을 때 syslog 항목의 프로그램 이름(태그)으로 이 값이 붙는다. 기본값은 postgres다. syslog daemon은 이 태그로 메시지를 필터링하거나 별도 파일로 나눌 수 있으므로, syslog 기반 log 수집 파이프라인에서 PostgreSQL 메시지를 골라내는 기준이 된다.

postgresql.conf 파일이나 서버 커맨드라인에서만 설정할 수 있고, 변경 후 reload(SIGHUP)로 반영된다.

운영 노트: 한 호스트에서 여러 PostgreSQL 인스턴스를 돌리면 기본값 postgres로는 어느 인스턴스의 메시지인지 구분할 수 없다. 인스턴스마다 postgres-main, postgres-analytics처럼 구분되는 값을 주면 syslog 단계에서 바로 분리할 수 있다.
